VOTER REGISTRATION--UPPER MARLBORO, MD - Prince George's County residents who wish to vote in the November 4, 2008 Presidential General Election are reminded that the deadline for voter registration is 9 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2008.  As Voter Registration Deadline Nears, Prince George's County Board of Elections Opens on Saturdays.

The City of Greenbelt has been contacted by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the NAACP raising concerns about the City’s election system. In order to keep all informed City Council has provided an informational update and a response to an editorial printed in the Greenbelt Gazette.

The County Council has approved a bill that will allow an additional tax credit to homeowners installing new heating, hot water, or electric generation systems using an alternative energy source such as solar or georthermal. These homeowners will be eligible for a tax credit up to $1,500 for a hot water supply system and up to $5,000 for a heating system. More information will be provided when available.

Greenbelt Farmers Market Parking Restrictions: A portion of the Roosevelt Center Parking lot (behind Curves and the Credit Union) will be closed off on Sundays from 7am - 3pm beginning June 8th for the Greenbelt Farmers Market.

Launchfest at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. September 13th, 2008, 10am - 4:30pm. Explore the universe in your own backyard. Entrance to the Center is free and open to the public. Save the date for a community celebration for a year filled with 15 launches, and enjoy out of this world fun, food, and entertainment, as well as awesome NASA exhibits, demonstrations, and hands-on activities for all ages.

September 15th at 7:30pm, Public Meeting on Plans for new Greenbelt Middle School at Greenbelt Middle School 8950 Edmonston Road. Representatives from the school system will be on hand to present the plan and answer questions.
