    MDOT SHA is hosting a series of public workshops in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties to present: • Study status and schedule; • Purpose and Need summary; • Preliminary Range of Alternatives developed from the scoping process; and • Screening Criteria to evaluate the alternatives The meeting formats will include static board displays, scheduled general presentations, and small working group tables. The general presentations will occur at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and last approximately 30 minutes. The boards and small working group tables will be available throughout the meeting with technical staff available for discussion of comments and questions. Alternative descriptions and simple graphics featuring typical details of the potential improvements will be presented.   1. Food Forest Volunteer Workday

    Volunteers are needed for a service-learning workday to help clear the Food Forest behind Springhill Lake Recreation Center of weeds and invasive plants. Help us make the Food Forest a safer place for everyone by pulling, cutting, mulching selected areas to deter invasive plants such as porcelain berry and mile a minute vines. This event will be held 10am-12:30pm. The Springhill Lake Recreation Center is located at 6101 Cherrywood Lane Greenbelt, MD 20770.     Come learn how you can compost indoors using worms! There will be an informative presentation followed by a workshop where you can build and take home your own in home vermicomposting kit, worms included! This workshop will be held at the Public Works Facility at 555 Crescent Road Greenbelt, MD 20770 from 12pm - 2pm. RSVP by July 13th.     Admittance to the pool will be $5.00 for all families, including passholders. Bring your pool toys and the whole family for an evening of fun! Check with the pool for details about the upcoming events. Family Fun Night is designed to give families an opportunity to spend an evening together in a recreational atmosphere. Entering family must have at least one adult. Families will be charged $1.00 for each additional non-family member, with a limit of three non-family members per group. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to the Indoor Pool.
