MAJOR HIGHWAYS It's easy to get where you have to go from the City of Greenbelt. The city is located within the boundaries of the Capital Beltway (I495), providing access to the entire Washington Metropolitan Area. The Baltimore Washington Parkway (MD295) provides a strait route to DC and Baltimore. Greenbelt is also minutes away from Route 50 which leads to Annapolis, Maryland, the state capital. TheBUS TheBUS Transit Services operates 22 bus routes in Prince George's County. In keeping with their community service orientation, TheBUS operates Monday through Friday, typically from 6:00am-7:30pm. The base fare is $0.75 and the fare for seniors and persons with disabilities is $0.35. Route and schedule information is available at 301-324-2877 or on-line at www.goprincegeorgescounty.com. City of Greenbelt Trails The City of Greenbelt prides itself on its extensive pathways for pedestrian and biker traffic. A hiker/biker trails map is available at the City Offices located at 25 Crescent Road or by calling 301-474-8000 and requesting one by mail.
Greenbelt Connection Bus Service A Dial-A-Ride service utilizing a 12 passenger, wheelchair accessible van. Service is available to all residents of Greenbelt. To arraange for trasportation, call 301-474-4100 at least 24 hours before you need a ride. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:30am-4:00pm. Sunday bus service begins an hour later. For senior citizens, individuals with disabilities and children (6-18years) the fare is $1.00. For all other citizens the fare is $1.50. The Greenbelt Connection does not operate on holidays observed by theCity.
Call-A-Bus The County's specialized curb-to-curb trasportation service available to all residents who are not served by or cannot use existing bus or rail services. Priority for Call-A-Bus is given to senior citizens and disabled persons. This service is provided within Prince George's County only. The regular fare is $1.00. The fare for seniors and persons with disabilities is $0.50. Call 301-499-8603 for further information.
Call-A-Cab Call-A-Cab is the name for the County's trasportation assistance program that provides mobility at a reduced cost for senior (age 55 and over) an/or disabled County residents. This program allows eligible residents to purchase coupon books that can be used to pay for rides with participating cab companies when Metrobus and/or Call-A-Bus are not available. Senior and/or disabled residents may purchase up to fourteen (14) $20.00 coupon books in a six-month period at $10.00 per book. Call 301-883-5656 for further information. |
