Community promotion communicates to the Citizens information about community activities, events, and issues of interest. The prime communication tools used are the City's cable channel (Comcast 71, Verizon 21, and Greenbelt Municipal Streaming and On-Demand Video), press releases, newsletters, and this website at www.greenbeltmd.gov
The City of Greenbelt operates its own information cable televisio n channel on Comcast Channel 71 and Verizon Channel 21. Greenbelt Municipal Access runs a 24-hour bulletin board announcing numerous activities. City Council meetings are shown live on on these channels. Throughout the week other municipal programming, such as city events and informational programming are shown. Schedules are printed in the Greenbelt News Review.

Copies of programming shown on the Greenbelt Muncipal Access Channel can be obtained at a minimal cost. Currently available are Labor Day events from the past 5 years, Ask the Expert, Co-Op cooking Show, Creative Kids Camp performances, Circus Camp, Council meetings and more. Greenbelt Municipal Access is produced by City Staff and concentrates on city sponsored events. Residents interested in television production may look into Public Access. Public access programming is shown on seperate channels on both Verizon and Comcast. Greenbelt Access Television or GATE, operates a city owned studio located in the Greenbelt Community Center, that is accessible to City Groups and Residents. Training and equipment is provided.
