CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE

The City Manager's Office is responsible for ensuring that the City is being responsive to the needs of its customers, the citizens.  This is accomplished by implementing City Council policy, responding to citizen inquiries and concerns, exercising fiduciary prudence with City monies, planning for the City's future and communicating to the public what is being done. 

City Manager: Michael McLaughlin
Michael P. McLaughlin first came to work for the City of Greenbelt in October 1979 where he started out as an administrative assistant.  He became the assistant city manager in 1986 and was appointed the deputy city manager/city treasurer in 1991.  In 1996, Mr. McLaughlin was appointed City Manager.

Mr. McLaughlin has a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia, PA and a Masters in Public Administration from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

Mr. McLaughlin resides in the city, with his wife and 3 children.  He has been involved with many of the developmental changes that have occurred in the city during the past two decades. 

A firm believer in allowing city employees to grow in their professions, he does not hesitate in challenging them with additional responsibilities.  He is proud of the city and its many accomplishments over the years.  He is quick to say "Welcome to Greenbelt!"
