INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

The Information Technology Department is responsible for providing information technology and communications to all departments within the city. The major activities of this department include coodination of the use of computers and other information systems throughout the city, developing security measures to protect the city's information systems, providing ongoing user eduation and keeping abreast of current technology as well as the information needs of the city.

The City of Greenbelt's network runs on a fiber based Institutional Network, which is part of a County-wide system. This system allows Greenbelt access to communication throughout all of Prince George's County and beyond.
