Drawing and Painting

WATERCOLOR EXPLORATIONS
Even beginners can create beautiful paintings using a loose, impressionistic layering of color and a precise rendering of form through transfers of photographs or drawings. DRAWING FROM LIFE

MAT CUTTING AND ART MOUNTING WORKSHOP
Preserve and beautify your artwork. Learn to mount and mat photographs, paintings, drawings and prints using the Community Center’s mat cutter and dry mount press. Covers proper measurement and cutting of mat board, hinge mounting, and drymounting. Fee includes all materials. Participants receive a $10 discount on spring or summer Visual Arts Open Studio. Bring 1 piece of art (up to 11”x14”).

RAKU WORKSHOP
Try your hand at Raku, a centuries-old Japanese method of fast-firing ceramic art outdoors. Join fellow artists and students in this fun, day-long workshop. Bring up to five bisqued pieces to the Thursday evening glazing session  - 5/20, 7:00-9:00pm, Community Center room 305. Firing will take place outside of the Greenbelt Aquatic and Fitness Center. Pot-luck lunch on Saturday. In case of rain: glazing will take place as scheduled; firing will take place on June 5.

Glass Arts

STAINED GLASS - ALL LEVELS
This class provides all the basics for starting to create stained glass panels using the Copper Foil Method. No prior experience required. Existing glass crafters can advance their skills and learn new tricks of the trade. Materials for one project and all tools are provided; additional materials may need to be purchased for additional projects. After completing this class, students are eligible for Stained Glass Open Studio sessions through the end of the spring session. Instructor: Richard McMullin. Ages 16-Adult.

Fabric Arts

FABRIC COIL BOWLS WORKSHOP
Turn your scrap fabric and a cotton clothesline into a decorative bowl. This workshop will cover the basics of Susan Breier’s “It’s A Wrap!” Participants need a sewing machine capable of zig-zag stitching to create these fantastic pieces.
