Art in the Shadows: Artful Afternoon
Sun, July 5, 1-4pm
1:00pm-3:00pm: print photograms in the darkroom with artist David Ashman. Bring interesting small objects to cast a permanent shadow with the help of the enlargers! This workshop is offered in celebration of the opening of the Greenbelt Photo Club’s exhibition in the art gallery. 1:00pm-3:00pm: make shadow puppets inspired by world folk tales with artist Daniel Barash. At 3pm, Daniel will perform a shadow puppet show with audience participation!

Artful Afternoon

3:00pm: A Midsummer Night’s Dream. A wild story full of magic spells, fairies and mistaken loves presented by Molly Moores of the Baltimore Shakespeare Festival with help from the audience! Come early and create your own enchanted wood sprite in a related craft workshop with Artist in Residence Marla McLean, 1:00-3:00pm. (Shakespeare fans - check the Greenbelt Arts Center website for information about their presentation of Othello coming up later this month at www.greenbeltartscenter.org).
Greenbelt Labor Day Festival: Artful Afternoon

1:00pm-3:00pm: weather-permitting, look for roving art carts on the midway! Make free island-inspired crafts with Greenbelt’s Artists in Residence, in conjunction with their new exhibition “My Island” at the Community Center Art Gallery (reception: 3:00pm-4:00pm).
