  2. Public Hearing on Proposed Metrobus Service Changes

    Metro is proposing service changes to selected bus routes based on input from customers and local governments, and an analysis of on-time performance, ridership, corridor studies and cost efficiency. Proposals being considered include plans to restructure service along Columbia Pike in Virginia with additional limited-stop service in Arlington County, extend service on the BWI Airport Express route to Arundel Mills Mall in Maryland, and extend service to accommodate new Wharf development in the District of Columbia. Customers are encouraged to provide input on the proposed changes. Comments will be provided to Metro's Board of Directors for consideration prior to adopting any service changes. Any Board-approved service changes would begin within the next year.   2. BIKE RODEO

    September 23, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Beltway Plaza - Breezewood Drive parking lot

    Bike rodeos are designed to help children who already know how to ride develop safety skills under the guidance of veteran cyclists. Youth are given an opportunity to learn real-life bicycle-handling skills that enable them to safely ride in neighborhood areas: braking, balancing, basic road rules, and how to handle obstacles. Children must have a helmet to participate. Free helmets for kids (while supplies last) are provided by Proteus Bike Shop. Limited number of bikes will be available for use during event. This event is co-sponsored by the City of Greenbelt Recreation Department, Greenbelt Police Department, Beltway Plaza, Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Paradyme Management and Proteus Bike Shop.     When the first families moved into Greenbelt on September 30, 1937, American Big Band music was at its peak. It on the airwaves, and songs by Gershwin, Ellington and other songwriting titans helped to keep Greenbelters’ toes tapping and hearts singing in their new town. This fall, on the 80th anniversary of the pioneers’ arrival, that music will have the same joyful effect on you!
