CAMP PROGRAMS 2007

Welcome to the City of Greenbelt's Camp Programs for 2007.
The hours for all camps are from 8:45am-3:30pm, Monday-Friday.
Before and After Care options are also available.

TWO-WEEK CAMPS
Session dates for two-week camps are as follows:
Session 1: June 18-June 29
Session 2: July 2-July 13
Session 3: July 16-July 27
Session 4: July 30-August 10

Two week camps include:

FOUR-WEEK CAMP
The City offers a four-week camp for ages 13-16 called Camp Encore. The Session dates for Camp Encore are as follows:
Session 1: June 18-July 13
Session 2: July 16-August 10

ONE-WEEK CAMPS
Spring Camp (6-12 years old)
Baseball Camp (8-12 years old)
Session Dates: April 9-April 13

Basketball Camp (8-12 year olds)
Session Dates: June 11-June 15

Camp Pine Tree Explorer (6-14 year olds)
Parade Camp (6-14 year olds)
Session Dates: August 13-August 17

CKC INTERNSHIPS

All camps offer BEFORE AND AFTER CARE OPTIONS. In addition, there is a large variety of AFTER CARE CLASSES available for our summer camps. These classes run until 5:15pm, Monday-Friday. They include: Visual Art Adventure, Clay at the End of the Day, Model Building, Pine Wood Derby Cars, Team Sports, In-Line Skate & Skate Boarding, Video Production, and Book Club.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

There are different rates for Greenbelt Residents and Non-Residents. Registration Packets for Greenbelt Residents will be accepted beginning January 16, 2007 and from Non-Residents beginning January 29, 2007. Please download the proper registration packet. All forms are included for your convenience, although they may not all be needed (e.g. Medication Authorization Form and Medication Authorization Form for EpiPens, Inhalers and Insulin Pumps). If you have any questions, please contact the Greenbelt Recreation Business Office Monday-Friday, 9:00am-4:30pm at 301-397-2200.

BASIC SKILLS REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE


The Greenbelt Department of Recreation welcomes the participation of all individuals, including those with disabilities, into our programs. We will fully comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act in making reasonable accommodations to encourage participation. To be eligible to register, participants must be able to:

  • abide by the rules of conduct;
  • follow instructions;
  • stay with their group;
  • distinguish right from wrong;
  • identify when they must use the bathroom;
  • use the bathroom independently;
  • dress/undress in a timely manner (for swimming); and,
  • feed themselves.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION:
To ensure quality instruction and care, all camp programs have limited enrollment. Please register early

  • Children must be of age by the starting date of the camp session for which they are registering. Register your child only for the camp(s) designed for and geared toward their age grouping.
  • A welcome letter will be mailed to the address you have provided on the registration form one week prior to the start of the camp session(s) for which your child is registered.
  • Campers who elect not to participate in field trips should not attend camp for that day. Alternative care WILL NOT be provided.
  • Campers should wear comfortable clothing appropriate for a range of indoor and outdoor camp activities. Please do not send your child to camp wearing sandals or open-toe shoes.
  • All campers should be wearing sunscreen when they arrive and have an extra bottle in their backpack to apply throughout the day. In addition, we recommend that your child have a hat and sunglasses to wear when outdoors to protect them from the summer sun.
  • Campers are required to bring a non-perishable lunch each day. There are no provisions for refrigeration. We will provide water as a beverage for participants.
