ABSENTEE BALLOTS
An important change took place in the City's absentee voting system beginning with the 2005 City Council election. Any qualified City voter who wishes to vote early or vote by mail may do so. It is no longer necessary for the voter to provide an "excuse" for not being able to go to the polls on election day. Applications for absentee ballots must be received by the City Clerk no later than noon of the day before the election. You may apply for an absentee ballot in one of two ways: (1) Download and fill out the application form (in pdf format) or... you may request one by mail or phone (301-474-8000), pick up in the City Clerk's office (25 Crescent Road). Form must be mailed or returned to the City Clerk at 25 Crescent Road, Greenbelt, MD 20770. If necessary, you may download Acrobat Reader for free by clicking on the icon or... (2) Write a letter of application to the City Clerk, Municipal Building, 25 Crescent Road, giving you name and signature as they appear on the voter registration list, your Greenbelt domicile address, and a telephone number where you can be reached. If more than one absentee ballot is needed, separate signed applications must be submitted by each voter.
