ELECTION INFORMATION

Beginning with the 2009 Election, the City of Greenbelt elects a seven-member City Council every other year. The Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem are chosen by the City Council, the members are elected at large, with the highest vote getter traditionally being selected as mayor and the second highest as Mayor Pro Tem.  The following pages contain information about local, county, state and federal elections.

Election Precincts : The City is divided in five election precincts.  On Election Day, you must vote at the designated polling place for you precinct.  (NOTE: locations for City Elections are different than those for the General Election.) Click here for more information on Polling Places.

Registering to Vote: You must be registered to vote with Prince George's County in order to vote in the City Election.  Click here for more information on Registration.

Absentee Ballots: Beginning with the 2005 City election, any qualified voter is entitled to vote by absentee ballot, without providing any reason or excuse. Click here for more information on Absentee Ballots.
