Creative Movement: Students learn dance basics through creative play, story dances and a wide range of music. Your child will develop their coordination and imagination at the same time! This class is a great precursor to taking ballet and jazz here at GDS when students turn age 6. Please wear clothes easy to move in and bare feet.

Jazz*: Learn the basics of this fun and enduring dance style, which is influenced by rhythms and techniques of jazz music. Jazz dance shoes or dance sneakers, and form-fitting dance clothing are required.

Ballet*: This classical dance form is characterized by grace and precision of movement. A great start for students with big dance dreams, or just an introduction to this essential dance discipline. Ballet shoes and form-fitting dance clothing are required.

Music Theater Dance*: Perfect for students interested any aspect of performing arts, but musicals in particular! Learn the moves from popular and classic Broadway shows. Students will become acquainted with popular Broadway choreographer’s styles and have a “leg up” on future theater auditions. Jazz dance shoes or dance sneakers, and form-fitting dance clothing are required.

Choreography Club: After a quick warm-up, students will learn basic compostion by choosing their own music, picking a preferred dance style, and working in groups to create their own dances! These new works will be presented in the studio on the last class day of each session, as well as participate in the Spring Recital. Participants must have turned at least age 7 by August 31, 2007 and must also be currently enrolled in a Jazz, Ballet, or Music Theater class taught by Miss Samantha.
