The Greenbelt Community Nursing Program, which began in January of 2005 with a partnership with Bowie State University School of Nursing, is pleased to announce that it begin its second semester with new students beginning in September 2005. This program focuses on bathing, medication management, blood sugar monitoring, health assessment, vital signs monitoring and advocating with health care professionals on behalf of the client- all within the privacy of the clients home. Students are supervised by Professor Valerie Swan. This semester we will be able to accept 20 clients. Home visits will begin on September 20, 2005 and end on November 30, 2005. Visits will be conducted on Tuesdays or Wednesdays between the hours of 9:00 am–12:00 noon. Clients will work with nursing students to select an appropriate time. Slots will be filled on a first come first serve basis. Participants will also be asked to complete a short one page student evaluation at the end of the program year. To help the professor revaluate the students performance. This program is only opento Greenbelt residents and is free to all participants. We look forward to working with you in the fall.
