The Electric
Universal Service Program (EUSP) is an energy program designed to help
low income electric customers pay their electric
heating
bills. The Maryland Energy Assistance Program (MEAP) can help households
pay their heating bills or rent, if home energy costs are included
in the rent. Only one application is needed for both programs. Benefits
under these programs are based on monthly household income, household
size, energy type and fuel consumption. Seniors are encouraged to call
301-699-2696 to schedule an appointment to apply for the appropriate
form of energy assistance. If your service has been turned off, you
must apply in person to the Prince George’s County Department
of Social Services 425 Brightseat Road, Landover, MD 20785. Seniors are encouraged to call 301-265-8450.
