The TeleTouch Program

The Prince George’s County Department of Family Services Area Agency on Aging is pleased to introduce to the Citizens of Greenbelt the TeleTouch Program. Previously called the Telephone Reassurance Program, it recruits volunteers from the community, Senior Centers and other volunteer programs to place daily reassuring phone calls to senior citizens within Prince George’s County. The goal of the program is to eliminate some of the concerns facing seniors remaining independent. The program will provide the opportunity to connect be telephone with someone who cares. It allows individuals to decrease the feelings of loneliness and isolation. The program also provides adder peace of mind for relatives who live out of town or who are unable to contact their family members on a regular basis. Program goals are as follow: 1. To eliminate some concerns facing citizens facing senior citizens living alone. 2. To assist seniors citizens in maintaining their independence. 3. To provide an opportunity for daily socialization and a source of contact with the community. 4. To help decrease the feeling of loneliness and isolation 5. To provide an avenue to report mistreatment. Call are made Monday –Friday between the hours of 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. This free service is open to Prince George’s County residents, 60 years of age or older and socially isolated.
