Maryland Primary Mailing Error
Ballot Instructions were sent in Spanish
Election Board sent out thousands of Election Ballots with instructions in Spanish.

WERE MAILED BALLOT INSTRUCTIONS IN SPANISH
Prince George's County election officials will work diligently with the State Board of Elections to quickly
resolve the issue.
UPPER MARLBORO, On May 6, 2020, the Prince George's County Board of Elections
(PGCBOE) discovered that there was an error in the ballot mailings sent by the Maryland State
Board of Elections for the June 2, 2020 Vote By Mail Primary Election. Unfortunately, some
Prince George's County voters were mailed the ballot instructions only in Spanish. The ballot
instructions for Prince George's County voters were to be printed and mailed in both English and
The PGCBOE was made aware of the error when it began receiving phone calls from voters
concerned that they received the ballot instructions only in Spanish. Once PGCBOE became
aware that there was a problem, they immediately notified the State Board of Elections (SBE) to
inform SBE of the issue. The Prince George's County Board ofElections will work diligently
with the State Board of Elections to identify which voters were affected by the error. On May 6,
2020, the Prince George's County Board of Elections placed a link to the English Instructions for
its voters on its website: elections.mypgc.us. The PGCBOE responded to all voters that
contacted the office to date by immediately mailing ore-mailing the English instructions.
The State Board of Elections has already agreed to mail all affected voters the correct
instructions. If voters who were affected by this issue wish to access these instructions sooner to
cast their ballot, they can view the instructions online at elections.mypgc.us, or they can call the
PGCBOE at 301-341-7300.
