Pre-school Programs

The minimum age requirement for all classes should be met by the first class meeting. Helpful hints for getting your young performer ready

STORYBOOK THEATER MINI-CAMP  Ages 3-5

Through music and movement, we will be creating our own storybook theater dances based on one of the habitats featured at the National Aquarium in  Baltimore.  We will also make simple crafts to serve as props and set for our storybook dances. Young movers will develop their coordination, confidence and rhythmic skills while creating a dance inspired by the session's storybook theme. Students should wear clothes that are easy to move in and bare feet. No jeans or fancy costumes, please. A small, healthy snack is also provided; please be sure to indicate any allergies on registration form.

MOVIE MUSICAL MADNESS MINI-CAMP  334209-1
Ages 5-7

Aspiring young performers will enjoy learning a variety of dances to a selection of songs from the movie musical and Broadway hit Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Emphasis will be on developing the confidence, musicality and quick-study skills needed for performing in musical theater productions. No previous dance experience required. In-studio performance on the last day of class! Uniform: Girls and Boys - snug t-shirt, leggings and bare feet.

BALLET THEATER MINI-CAMP Ages 5-7

Young dancers will develop the proper posture, flexibility and discipline needed to begin a more formal study of classical ballet. Each two week session will also focus on a different story ballet with students learning dances choreographed to the music of the famous ballets.  Students will perform in-studio for friends and family on last day of class session. Uniform: Girls-Pink leotard and pink tights. Sheer pink skirts and ballet slippers permitted but not required.  Boys-Plain white t-shirt and black knit shorts or pants.

Teen & Adult Programs

BEGINNING BALLET  354202-1Ages 15+

A fun introduction to ballet specifically designed for teen and adult beginners! Emphasis will be on developing strength, flexibility and balance through traditional ballet barre work as well as through conditioning exercises borrowed from Pilates and yoga. Please wear comfortable clothes but not too loose. Soft ballet shoes or bare feet. Leotards and tights not necessary.

MUSICAL THEATER TAP  354209-1Ages 15+

A fun introduction to the rhythms of tap designed for teen and adult beginners! Classic tap steps will be introduced and developed to the sound of musical numbers and jazz favorites. Please wear comfortable clothes that you can move in. Oxford style tap shoes are recommended. Hard soled shoes are permitted. Note: Tap classes meet on the stage in the Community Center gymnasium, not in the dance studio.
